Job Description
As Senior Account Manager at this niche voluntary sector communications agency, you will have a senior role managing client accounts, such as trade bodies, collaborative charity campaigns, and charity sector suppliers. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging communications that ensure the work and impact of our clients gains a high profile among their target audiences, primarily within the charity sector.
An experienced communications specialist, you will be confident in advising clients about a range of communication activities, developing strategy and plans, and in managing those plans through to fruition. Typically, this will involve content writing (e.g. blogs, press releases, news items, social posts, client comms), press release distribution, media liaison, media monitoring and reporting.
With excellent writing skills and a solid understanding of the charity sector, you will be comfortable liaising with clients and their target media, working creatively to develop communications and editorial plans for each client, and implementing those plans in an efficient and timely way. This role is suited to a proactive and self-motivated individual who can manage their own client workload but enjoys working as part of a wider agency team.
We are great believers in collaboration, in bringing together relevant experience, thinking and skills to produce the highest standards of work, something we are proud to deliver, and our clients look for in us. As a member of our team, you will manage your own client account/s while also supporting other team members across the Turner PR client portfolio and be willing to lead projects and brief freelancers/other team members when you need their input.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Manage client relationships and PR / communication projects
- Advise clients on a range of PR / communication activities to meet their goals
- Develop strategies and deliver innovative PR / communication campaigns
- Confidently liaise with target media, selling in stories on behalf of our clients
- Write excellent and engaging content (press releases, blogs, newsletter copy, etc)
- Monitor and evaluate PR programmes, reporting back to clients
- Manage / brief other freelance staff as required
- Communicate confidently with client partners & stakeholders
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience
- Minimum five years hands-on PR / comms experience (in house or agency)
- Proven delivery of successful PR strategies, campaigns and account management
- Demonstrable writing (news, blogs, articles)
- A good understanding of the charity sector and its media
- An advantage but not necessary:
- Experience of legal and personal finance press and broadcast media
- Fluency in a second European language
Personal Characteristics
- An independent, creative thinker, enthusiastic about positively communicating the work of fundraising organisations through media (predominantly trade media) and other sector networks, including strategic/collaborative partnerships
- Excellent communicator with good vocabulary and grammar
- A confident self-starter with strong organisational and planning skills
- Ability to prioritise, manage your own workload and always meet deadlines
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- A proactive team member who can interact well with others and has a ‘can do’ attitude
